Harken Winch Problem

Has anybody got a bright ideas for removing the handle socket (part # 31759) on a seized Harken 32.2ST Winch? Normally it just a case of removing the top screw and lifting the assembly but it is stuck fast. I have applied PlusGas but after 3 hours there is no budging it……

I think the Plus Gas won't be reaching the bit where it's stuck on the main shaft.

How about jamming a winch handle in with cardboard round the sides then tap it laterally as you rotate and try to lift. By lifting the winch handle by the end of it's handle, the rotation about the vertical axis might help hold it in whilst you use it as a lever to remove the splined socket?
