Harken Spinnaker Pole Repair Problems

The release pin on the piston end of the Harken spinnaker pole had siezed solid. I removed the end fitting (with some difficulty) and have freed the piston and find the wire rope that releases the piston from inboard is rusty and looks in need of replacement. I cannot see how to fit a new wire to the pull handle as the present one has the wire fused into the handle. I searched the Harken site without success. Can I buy a new handle complete with wire rope attached and do other companies sell this also, or do I need to fabricate something. Any ideas?
