Does anybody have any information on these.
I presume they are semi displacement. All seem to have merc or yanmar engines.
Are they like a little ship, well built, sturdy etc etc
many thanks

Hardy 36

As far as I know Hardy has built its name on selling well built strong boats. All the Hardy owners I've come accross seem to spend more time than average polishing and pampering their pride and joy.
Quite a few of the rag and stick brigade when they change to put put go for Hardys. This is a compliment to Hardy in my view. I'm not familar with the larger ones so can only assume they are of a simular quality.

Never been on a Hardy 36 but my first boat was a Hardy Fishing 24. I knew virtually nothing but got lucky.

British boats. Strong boats. Respected boats. Bigger ones described as 'go anywhere boats". Hold value better than most boats.

When I bought my Nimbus 33 I sold the Hardy within days, to first viewer, who tavelled from West coast of Scotland to Lymington to see it. He obviously knew what he was looking for.

Get a good one and I don't think you'll go far wrong.

Hardy 36 is semi-displacement and on my list for when we upgrade from our Hardy Seawings 305 if we start doing some serious family cruises, mebbe in a couple of years or so. Our 305 is very solidly built e.g. solid teak joinery throughout and there's a massive reinforcement grid bonded into the hull that's half an inch thick+ to start with - no stress cracks anywhere, and is wearing her near 10 years very well. Factory helpful too for parts.

Excellent seaboats and built to a high standard. A search on YBW will get you some reports. Some aspects of the design could be improved upon but all minor stuff like deck stowage and design of the seating on the flybridge. I think they are lovely boats but can't convince the other half it's the way to go /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif.
The 42 is even better..... /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif

I've got a humble 20' Hardy Pilot, but it's a very sturdily built little boat - the whole thing is built as solid as a rock, and it looks very business like. It's not the prettiest boat - put it like this, if it were a car, it'd be made by Land Rover. Functional, sturdy, built to last. cracking boat!
