As my pulley-hauley Raggie days are over, could anyone with knowledge of the Hardy Regatta or Navigator give me pros and cons of both to assist my decision as to which to go for. Solent and coastal use only, mainly single-handed as I haven't got any friends.

Get a Hardy Pilot 20.
Bit bigger than the Regatta.
Nice little boats, just the job for the Solent etc.
Plane nicely and go slow nicely, don't like the in between bit, like lots of those type of hulls.
75 hp four stroke on the back and the Solent's your oyster.
Also join a Dating Agency or similar, you might just need "A Friend" ------- to share running costs, you'l be visiting the fuel dispensing area a lot more than you were in Your pulley- hauley days /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif
Have fun!

Hardy boats - that takes me back -the best and the worst (no comments about our Trader please!!) boats we ever purchased.

Our first boat a Hardy 18 Navigator was brilliant and if I remember correctly it cost us under £10,000.00 brand new (those were the days) - we loved every moment of ownership. She was a solidly built, easy to handle little boat, we moored at Poole at first and then we ended up keeping on a trailer at home (no mooring fees). /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Our biggest trip was to trail her up to Scotland and then take her through the Caledonian Canal to Loch Ness (with 4 adults sleeping on board). I managed to feed everyone on board without too much trouble. Happy days. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

We then purchased one of the first Hardy 27's and what an expensive mistake that was. Should have been a 14 knot boat - never got more that 9 out of her. Another lesson learnt - always try before you buy and never buy the first model of anything. /forums/images/graemlins/mad.gif

We met two other 27 owners that told us they were taking legal action against Hardy because the boat was not what they had been promised. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

We did get to the Channel Islands in her on an MBM trip - took us about 20 hrs to get to Jersey but only cost us £30.00 in diesel.

I fell asleep as we were negotiating the Alderney Race. I had been admiring the view before I dropped off - a lovely lighthouse - when I woke up two hours later the lighthouse was still there. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

Whatever you buy - enjoy it

Forgot to add - the biggest plus is that you can lie in bed in the morning and still reach the cooker to make a cup of tea
