Hardy 62 news

There is a stunning Hardy 50 (I think it is) berthed in Torquay (where we have moved to for the season). It is among Sunseekers, Princesses and Fairlines, which all look similar, but this boat just looks so well made and ready for the Sea. Fantastic looking vessel.

It belongs to friends of ours, just moved from Plymouth., have spent many happy hours on Dolphin. For a pair of old codgers, they certainly get around on their boat :)

Yes but boat shows are supposed to be for companies to exhibit examples of their best standards of design and workmanship. Seeing the H62 at SIBS would have put many people off simply on the basis that if this was what Hardy considers acceptable at this level, then how can they be trusted to deliver a custom build of satisafactory quality for me?

I agree with your wording but there are many comments over a year that infer that " we liked the boat but hated the colour of this or that or the shape of this and that" , bespoke builders will pretty much give you any layout and any fabrics blinds etc etc etc that you like just wish people would use a bit more imagination, and sales people should be more vocal about the customisation opportunity at shows, it is just an opinion but I would prefer a fully customised Hardy 62 than any Sunseeker or similar any day of the week, not even a contest in my opinion

For those that can see past 62 #1 that has been shown at SIBS they will realise what can be made of it with the input from the right people, there's great potential for this model with input from a buyer that knows what he wants.
A good friend of mine bought a Hardy 50 last year, I will get to go and try it when I have time to get to Darthaven again, looking forward to it.

I'm not going to argue with you but it went a lot deeper than just layout and fabrics. Just by way of example, I went out through the pilot house door during my time on the boat at SIBS and it nearly fell off in my hand because it was of such poor quality, not the installation but the door itself. I thought at the time if that is the kind of quality choice that Hardy are making on this boat, where else have they skimped that might be a lot more vital. If you go into a car showroom to look at a car and the drivers door feels like its going to fall off, what are you going to think about the rest of the car?

That is clearly fair enough, you can't argue with that at all, it surprises me that Hardy would do that

Yes, very surprising as Hardy boats have always been very well built. It is worth remebering that Mark Funnell sadly passed away before it was completed. He was the driving force at Hardy and unfortunately much of what he intended was in his mind as opposed to being written down so some things may not have ended up as originally planned.
