Hardy 62 news from Hardy....

Other Hardy news is that we were delighted to finalise the sale of a Hardy 62 at the London Yacht Jet and Prestige Car Show last week. She will have a stunning new interior layout and styling by Synolo Design, and be completed next summer. This will have an impact on delivery times for the rest of the range so, if you are contemplating having a new yacht on the water during the course of this year or next, it would be good to talk soon.

Lets hope the buyer of this one doesn't walk away!

Will be really interesting to see what they do to the interior. I love the exterior of the one they had at sibs but the interior felt like a 1970s caravan. Aqua star are a builder who are successfully blending traditional boats with modern interiors. Even broom are managing this now as well

There is a stunning Hardy 50 (I think it is) berthed in Torquay (where we have moved to for the season). It is among Sunseekers, Princesses and Fairlines, which all look similar, but this boat just looks so well made and ready for the Sea. Fantastic looking vessel.

indeed a Hardy 50 has some presence about it, makes sunprinfair look a little daft.

there was a 42 at SIBS last year, a sold boat. Proper go anywhere party boat, apparently owners don't invite overnighting guests ever so only accommodation was owners aft stateroom, then the entire forward part of the boat was for entertaining, large seating area and bar.... very tastefully opulent.

I suppose I could be completely wrong. I don't have (and likely never will have) that sort of money to spend on anything, never mind a boat. That said, the fact they only just got out of hull no.1 by the skin of their teeth and now they have employed a design house to do hull no.2 does suggest I might be close to the truth if not actually correct.

I'm not suggesting they have to cover everything in alligator skin and cover every surface in high gloss diamonte veneer but something other than dark stained teak and square dark blue ultra thin cushions everywhere. A bit of teak and simple cushions is fine in a 25ft weekender. On something the size of the 62 you need to be more creative and modern. Look at the new aquastar range. Nothing garish, but very smart and comfortable and modern

history of H1 pretty well know, built to order for a Russian & naturally 1970's décor is right up there at the moment in Russia... built prior to Windboats and that boat not bought by Windboats when company taken over,

H2 will be a different story and I have been looking forward to them getting an order to show just what can be achieved by the Windboats yard.

Ah thanks for the update firefly, and congrats to Hardy. This is good news because they have all the tooling and there is a truly great boat in there waiting to get out. The thing needs a run of builds and could become a great boat. And the sooner memories of hull #1 are consigned to ancient history the better, because the boat itself, as distinct from hull #1 in particular, is very good indeed. Let's hope the customer for #2 knows about boats and helps them correct the problems with #1, and fits stabilisation and so on.

Since you are so well connected at H, could you see if they could persuade the customer to post the build story on here? If the customer could find the time to do that, it would make for a fascinating read during the next year or so, and Hardy plus their 62 model could come out of it "famous" and much admired. If they're feeling brave of course... :D

I had the same thought, I'm pretty sure Oliver James will be reading this thread at some stage.... Oliver, over to you!!

Hardy 62 update....MORE INFO!

Ok, well indeed Oliver has seen the post... and I have now had an email from Oliver... so a bit of info.. in fact a bit of an exclusive!

The 62 interior is being designed by the same designer as the last lovely 42 we built. I am sure the owners will have input. I will put to them the idea of a build diary when I see them next.

The boat has a new flybridge and aft deck layout with additional seating and tables with two covering biminis. She will look terrific. The new spec and layout will be on our website shortly.

More info on the Flybridge design.

. The aft section that was bare before will have a u-shaped settee and table which can lower to create a sunbed. Also have the option for crane and dinghy at the very aft end.
In the aft cockpit we now have transom gateways either side rather than on the centreline so there is centre line seats and a table on the aft cockpit. This will act as an extension to the saloon which will have larger doors at the aft end. In warmer climes, although baking here today(!), the whole of the aft saloon/aft cockpit will be a lovely entertaining area.

...and I asked the question if it will have stab's
Yes to stabilisers.

I think Hull number 2 will be pretty good!

Plus 1

That is a smart boat always liked them, just got back from a week long cruise ( everywhere very quiet) but passed the new 62 on our outward and home leg , a cracking bit of kit when I buy the next boat the plan is a bigger Broom, but can't deny the Hardy is a nice boat, my type of thing

Always loved Hardy boats and was fortunate enough to moor wher they kept their demonstrator and did a number of delivery/handovers. The 42 was my favourite until the 50 arrived, now that is a serious boat! :)

Looked in the 62 at SIBs and whilst the interior wasn't fully to my taste I don't share the view that it was dreadful. Anyway, No 2 sounds as though it is going to be a great boat and I look forward to seeing it develop :)

Great news for Hardy. When we saw the first H62 at SIBS quite some years ago now, both the SWMBO and I felt 'if only'. If only the interior finish had been put together with more thought and style, if only the galley was up rather than down, if only the flybridge was better thought out, there were so many if onlys. Overall there is a fine boat waiting to come out of the 62 and I hope that hull no2 shows that Hardy have learnt something about what buyers expect at this level

Why do people keep making judgements on interiors based on boat shows models, non production builders will build you what you want, if you like or dis like my Broom interior then that is down to us, as we chose everything,

I don't doubt at all that Hardy is the same, so on that basis if you are looking outside of planing hull stuff then Hardy is a brand that should create a positive stirs. in the market

I had a serious look at the 40DS but did not want to sleep in the bow again

Yes but boat shows are supposed to be for companies to exhibit examples of their best standards of design and workmanship. Seeing the H62 at SIBS would have put many people off simply on the basis that if this was what Hardy considers acceptable at this level, then how can they be trusted to deliver a custom build of satisafactory quality for me?

But surely they didn't have much choice having done the interior to a clients specification? It was either that or don't display something that they really needed to sell.

If they offer custom build then I would have thought that any discerning customer would see what Hardy and Windboats have built previously and be able to see what could be done? :)

+1

Great someone understands, this was a small company making a flagship boat pre-sold for a customer, they didn't want it grey and blue to start with but the customer wanted it to look like a official patrol boat to put off any unwanted guests!

Plus hull 1 was designed and built by old Hardy, now owned by very different boat builders.
