Hi all,

In the December issue of Motor Boat & Yachting our lead feature will be a trip we did from SIBS to Ipswich on the Hardy 62.

That will hit the shelves in the first week of November but until then I've posted a picture diary of our trip on the MBY Facebook page if you're interested. For those not in the know, you don't need an account to browse the pics.

We also have a video review from the show and some running footage: http://www.mby.com/galleries/videos/535350/hardy-62

Cheers,

Jack

It looks gorgeous....and did you really say 33Kts?

I think we are all wondering whether any of you tripped over the air intakes on the fly ;) .

I like all that space on the fly, but no way would I drag a freestanding table and chairs up there ;) I guess the intended owner specced nothing, or didn't pay for it at that stage.

Specced a large RIB and crane apparently......crane due to be fitted between the two engine vents so they will be less of a trip hazard

Excellent vid. She looks superb at running speed. IMHO with some more effort, Hardy could make the 62 into a very successful seller

Just out of interest does it have a set of oars or are there some collapsable masts hidden somewhere.
Only wondering cos of a total lack during the entire 5 mins of Location Location Location speak,no mention of what pushes the thing along or much else really.:)

Hi Jack

Just a little question, your Little report in mby issue that had just dropped through the door criticised size of fridge in the galley, just wondering if you had been in the walk in galley store a few steps away with floor to ceiling stainless fridge and freezer before making that comment? :)

Nice video well constructed.

In fairness that fridge was far too small for a boat of that size. More appropriate for a 35ft weekend cruiser. Also on a larger galley why aren't fridges mounted at waist height? Did she have a separate freezer on board? Poor show presentation not to have had a dingy and crane atop to "show" the use.

Lovely boat perhaps slightly let down by interior layout design. The guest cabin IMHO was awful for a 62ft boat, and the master did look dark inside. Her styling would not warrant large panoramic bonded windows on each side of the master, but a few 18-22" square porthole hatch windows at waist height would have transformed the feel of that master cabin without compromising her sea keeping integrity.

I'm not sure I understand this, the fridge in the actual galley is small, but 3 paces away is an industrial size fridge - I don't get the issue?

Worth bearing in mind that the original purcharser was very specific in what he wanted so many of the things that we would probably change weren't necessarily intended in the original design. Windboats have lots of ideas for improvements next time round.......

In fairness, I'm sure the layout can be tweaked according to the wishes of the owner. Yes, the forward VIP guest cabin is not huge but it wouldn't take much rejigging to enlarge it. In any case, I'm sure that Hardy could move the galley up to the saloon (where there is plenty of space for it) which would leave space for 2 or even 3 spacious guest cabins. Also the vid didn't show it but the crew cabin aft is as good as I've seen on a boat this size. Yes the master cabin is not well served by windows but a couple more portholes is not a major fix

And to answer your question there is also an enormous freezer. It's something that jack obviously all missed.

I do agree that slightly larger portholes in the master cabin would have made it a brighter affair. But this hardy (like all their boats) very much a custom boat.

Yes, I have to hold my hands up here and say that was missed during the initial tour of the boat at the boat show and we have made a correction on the website, apologies.

I can clarify that she has a whacking great fridge/freezer on board!

The video mentions that she has a pair of MAN 1,200hp V8s and that we hit 33 knots with a bit of help from the tide...

The boat could potentially be fantastic but the video, pictures and mini report in the new MBY suggest that the interior finish is one huge disappointment all round and completely off the pace for a £1m++ boat. You'd have to spend quite a bit of time checking Hardy have the skills to do better before you could consider buying one of these. Such a shame and I hope they get it right with hull #2

if you have a look at some other interiors made by Windboats... those with the sticks and flappy things.... they do have the skills. That is one reason I believe Hardy have fallen on their feet. This 62 was well under way when Windboats took over...and being built to an owners spec. Can't wait to see Hull 2
