Hardy 62....Anyone else feeling tempted

http://www.ancastayachts.com/yacht/evolution/

Seems like a bit of a bargain now? Wonder how it's stated on their P&L!

Would be very tempted if I were a few years further into our current boat....

what a bargain, very painful I'm sure for Windboats Hardy. I loved the 62, engine room and separate workshop....a must on any boat. But still remains just a touch out of my bracket!

unless of course they fancy a straight swap?

Much as I admire Hardy generally and their high quality, I'm not seeing any "bargain" here. The £200k reduction merely reflects the fact it's a year older. The £1m asking price is ex-VAT, btw.

I gotta call a spade a spade, and alas this boat is a bit awkward imho. Hardy need to bite the bullet not just lick it - it needs another £250k off imho. This is basically a not-new 62 footer with some very nice features but too many "hull #1 mistakes", no stabilisers, a truly awful interior and questionable colour scheme imho. Anyone with £1.2m wanting an explorer-esque yacht has plenty of arguably better more re-sellable choices, with stabilisers. This has to be bought as a keeper because it will not sell on easily. Notice how they haven't sold any more of these boats (afaik) so the fact this one is sticking isn't just down to the colours. It's a pity, because the basic lines are good, the Hardy brand is strong, but they need to redesign the tech spec and fit out. All imho of course

......

edit,
sorry misread the add,
thought the new price was 200K, thats why I believed it was a bargain :o

If that's the boat that was at SBS in 2013 it was a battleship grey, which not many seemed to like, maybe they've repainted her? Can't imagine they've built many others.

Had a god look over it, certainly wasn't up to the high Hardy standards of Mark Funnell days, can't remember the details but lots which I'd want changing for a boat of that value/heritage. I do remember a very strange area on the deck which seemed to hide some vents.

Well now you've put me right off, probably not a bad thing :)
I fall on the other side in terms of the aesthetics but take your point...

Aksherley...its moored where I am, to be honest, externally the finish is poor in a few places. You can't design a boat with sikaflex joints finished by finger visible at head height on the pontoon and think you've got a £1M plus product.

yes it is that boat. As well discussed at the time, but as a reminder to some, its build was well under way before Mark Funnel departed this world. Was a sold order for a Russian chap to his pretty individual spec, who then cancelled due to delays after MF passing & Windboats taking over. All in all an almighty cock up. Not that I would every want a 62 footer, but if I did, I actually like it.... but not in that colour or without stabs..or with that interior, or sikaflex finish..

How much has the Russian already paid in stage payments, as you could nock that off the asking price ?

guess 50%. £600k already paid
1 year deprec. 20%... £200k

offer: £ 400k + vat.

When I first saw the ads in the motorboat press for this boat about 3 yrs ago, I must admit that I thought that I might buy one of these one day but when we saw her at SIBS 2013, I have to say I was dissapointed on a number of fronts. First was the price; although Hardy denied it during my visit at SIBS, the H62 was originally advertised at £995,000 + VAT or thereabouts. Somehow at SIBS 2013, the price had risen to around £1.6m + VAT or thereabouts which was just stupid IMHO. I also agree with jfm that the standard of fit out even for hull no1 was pretty damn poor and made the silly price even sillier. If you're going to ask mega money money for a boat at least make it look like mega money and wonky doors, drape curtains, aluminium windows and a plain fit out without a hint of pizazz doesn't cut it at that price level. But thats fixable. What was less fixable was the decision to put the steps to the flybridge where the galley should have been, relegating the galley down to the cabin level. IMHO on what is supposed to be a long range cruiser, the galley needs to be up preferably near the lower helm but I was told this wasn't possible. As for the blue hull/battleship grey superstructure, I actually quite liked that.
I still think that there is a good boat in the H62 waiting to get out if its priced correctly. As for Revolution, well £1.2m was always way over the top which of course is why it hasn't sold. Knock about £400k off and it might find a home although not with me the way its laid out and fitted out

STF? Wazzat?
Regardless, I might overbid your offer by one quid.
...maybe they should put her on eBay... :D

in my previous post in this thread, I wrote that it was a good deal,
but I misread the sales add, and thought that the price was 200K, instead of the discount
so my reading and reaction wasn't that foolish :)
