I am looking for several metres of hardwood such as iroko which I will fasten to the deck of my boat. It should be 75mm wide by 25 mm thick. I have looked at Robbins online catalogue but teak and iroko is incredibly expensive.

Does any know of alternative suppliers preferably in n Wales or NW England?

Thanks for your help

K J Howells in Poole have given me good service in the past - OK not NW England but delivery charges not obscene. For large heavy / bulky items I've used "Palletline" before. They charge £40 for a pallet space pretty much regardless of weight (1 tonne max).

If you can find someone to machine it, the cheapest way to buy hardwood (teak or iroko) is by the board from the importing agents. I have bought boards in the past in this way and then had it machined locally to my specifications. I haven't got the details of the importer/agent to hand at the moment. Perhaps someone else will be able to help?

Try John Richards timber yard on the industrial estate in Pentraeth, Anglesey. 01248 450887. He specialises in hardwood, and is not a "builder's" type timber yard.
I would go and see him if you can rather than try and explain what you want over the phone.

If none of those come up with what you are looking for, try a specialist timber supplier: One such in the South West is Yandles of Martock: They do all sorts of exotic timbers for craft and turning, as well as sawn boards and larger quantities for joiners etc.

Yandles (Dont confuse with the garage of the same name in the same town)
