Hi,

Lady Jayne was launched on Friday and we spent a fine 2 hours crossing to Ryde in very little wind. 3 very pleased chaps arrived in time for a lunch time pint.

Further sea trials took place on Saturday. We were so lucky with the weather.

It has of course raised a few questions to be posted in the coming days.

Seeing as it's academy award night....

I'd like to thank everyone who has responed to my posts over the winter, and especially Nigel.

Also Gordon... Dayskipper theory!!

My manager, PR, etc etc.

Sorry but I am still chuffed. :)

Well done. Always a well deserved feeling of accomplishment when you achieve something like that first time. Bet you're delighted you took her over on the water, rather than by ferry!

Great to read that a Leisure17 is still being enjoyed to good effect.

My father bought one of the first models in 1971, and with my brother, the 3 of us had a lot of fun sailing around Saundersfoot and Tenby, in Pembrokeshire.

One of my lasting memories is Dad planing down a substantial chunk of teak to make the rudder! Although the boat was brand new, it was a major purchase (at 650quid!), and he ordered it without rudder to save money. The home made version worked perfectly well.

He had a lot of pride in that boat (and all his others), and you obviously feel the same way about Lady Jayne.

Hope you have a great season - we will look out for you on the water!

We must have been sailing the sme waters at the same time! As a child from 1966 to being a teenager in the 70's we spent every summer in Amroth and I often sailed across to Saundersfoot for an icecream (the easily pleased joys of a young teenager!) With you, I am delighted to hear that someone else is enjoying the green and crinkly stuff.

Well done, I remember the sense of achievement after I took my previous boat out for the first time!!!

Wasn't out myself at the weekend, babysitting on Saturday, and saw the weather on Sunday and thought yuck. And I probably won't get out to play for the next couple of weekends either... /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

What did you do about the log transducer in the end?Interested to know because I have the same issue with Silka on mine.

Hi Chris,

I know to some it wont have seemed like much, but to me and my two mates it was wonderfull.

We were so lucky with the weather, Friday we crossed in sun shine, had to motor some of the way as there was no wind. Saturday morning started a little grey but cleared as we walked to the harbour and we had a little more breeze, squeezing 4.6 knots from her.

It could not have been a better start.

The Log through hull is in with Sika and loads of glass fibre, and we didn't sink.

As we are on a drying birth i'll keep an eye on it. i did get a price for having a bronze one made up. But at £100 I think not. £50 ish if i could get 12 orders total, but I still think the problem is a little over exagerated.

Hope to be down there again in a fortnight. I've told SWMBO and all friends/familly that my life now revolves around the tides.

Cheers

Jim

With pride .....

The first sail will always be remembered for its excitement ......
I'm really chuffed that it has all gone well - Jim will now become one of us ...... sneaking off to sit and look at our pride and joy - dreaming of those broad reaches - slipping lines and sailing of to another pub / harbour ......

Over are the thoughts of Lwanmowers and flowerbeds ..... its now anti-fouling, ropes and crates of ale !!

Don\'t forget .....

Now that you have got her wet, enjoyed your yachting start .....

You will make up your wish-list, work-lists, winter-plans ..... at least 50% will never be done ........ they are mental exercisers .......

Bloody good show mate !! Can't wait to get back and let you show me how its done .....
