Hardtop in hot summer? Which type is best compromise for all year in the Mediterranean?

Very nice idea! May be I can build something like this into my upcoming Windy to reduce heat?
Yeh , it normally trickles down ,tech .
Think about car soft tops how they have morphed , into fold away HT s , both 2 + 4 seaters .
I think you are right about the 11 m thing .
A while back I had a Portofino 35 , 11.7 M loa, and crucially 3.54 M beam .Came out 2003 .
I asked the S/Sker guys why this measurement point ? .
The launch modal was a 46 , then this 35 , then a 53 .
The answer that came back revolved around Med berth size .A lot of marinas were built late 60 ,s early 70 s and had 11 m berths but with only enough room for a 3.55 M beam .....with the 20 Cm fender allowance = 3.85 or near that .

Its was cleverly designed with Airco , geny and the same interior as the then Yachts ....door handles , basins , light s etc .
Just shrunk to fit the then available berths .

later learned in Scando countries they can have locks and canals to inland lakes and this beam just happens to be compliant with that market .

This was 15 y ago and since a lot of marinas have re worked the berths to accommodate the every increasing size of boats .

Friend has a Targa 47. I had to move it one day for him. We are in Mallorca. The heat was staggering.
Get a rag top. You only put it up once at the start of the season just like a flybridge bimini.

And the open roof gives no shade. Looks good but to me in hot places does not work.
Jrudge, can you explain to me rag top? What is that?

Portofino 35 is a wonderful boat. It was on my shortlist. But sadly it is a little too long
