It was a nice try but Claymore has returned, I'm afraid.

Seriously, for a moment, I assist with the moderation of a small forum and wouldn't want to have anything to do with that role on the beast that is Scuttlebutt et al. I dare say you were shocked by the reaction to your last post but will, I'm sure, have taken something useful from the experience.

Try not to hate us. We're not a bad lot really.

PS - If you'd like to try out some of your more draconian powers, I've got a little list. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

So Silkies ambitions are revealed!! He has applied to be God on here!

Typicalof a politician when asked if he would like to become PM....

Of course Old Chap, I have no ambitions in that regard, but if I were to be pressed, then I must of course serve my country in whatever small way I can.

Watch out Louise, another Scot in command /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I would like to say I too hold no hard feelings whatsoever towards Louise & feel she has been unjustly, unnecessarily and excessively criticised.

We all misjudge stuff from time to time - especially with e-mails which are notorious for their ability to cause wars!

Take no notice of the aggression on here, it usually reveals more about the poster than the recipient anyway.

With the exception of a few hotheads, the significant majority of responses simply stated that Simon's posts were acceptable (even valuable) in their current format.

Louise was wrong but it was a simple mistake, born of inexperience, since Simon's posts do contravene the letter of the law although he has for years been the honourable exception that proves the rule.

I'm sure that we can all learn from this and move on as has been so eloquently suggested elsewhere. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I wonder if it would make it easier for people to visualise Louise , to imagine what she looks like , I mean , would anyone care what she said if she looked like this and had the pic as her avatar ? . I don't think many would read her posts at all /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I would just like to add my support to what you said Searush. As I was vociferous in support of Simon, and in explaining to Dan how the posting by Louise was misunderstood, I would completely disassociate myself from any criticism of her personally. There has been quite enough said on here already on this subject and I don't think it is either productive or in any way useful to turn it into a personal vendetta against Louise. Nether do I think posting pictures of under-dressed females does anything but turn this into a blatantly sexist attack which is not only sad but lowers the tone of the whole discussion.
Louise is a new member of the moderating team that usually does a very difficult job very well. She deserves our help and encouragement, nothing less.
Lay off!

Blatantly sexist attack ??? FFS ,,,,,, You were vociferous in your first responses and now you're at it again . The post was an attempt to lighten the mood and I resent any accusation that it was either sexist or an attack . Maybe you should think before you go posting comments like that

Two things wrong with this (indeed most) forums:
1) A significant number of people appear to have little or no sense of humour
2) Some people have an uncanny ability to blow things up out of all proportion
-----------------------
I shall now retire to throw darts at a picture of the Archbishop of Canturbury.

Couldn't agree more but in order to prevent an onslaught of hostilities from the fundamentalist presbyterian movement I have deleted the pic , anything for a quiet life

Yes indeed sexist. The fact that Louise is female is totally irrelevant and your post and picture were out of order. Your response is equally insensitive and if you think it's funny to suggest that anyone on the forum should be in any way swayed by what Louise looks like then that's the lowest form of wit. Grow up!

Speak to the hand cos the ears aren't listening , and never do when people on here that don't know me give me instructions about how I should behave . Keep your advice and comments to yourself and we'll get on fine . Can't do that ? . Suggest you use the ignore facility , many have and are so much happier for it

Silkie , apologies for the way your thread's gone David , and I hope this ends here

So like most bullies you expect to say what you like and do what you like but don't like it when you get the same back eh? Well sorry but if you don't want adverse comment don't post at all, and if you do, stay within the bounds of decency. I am not the only one who thought your comments inappropriate and I refuse to be silenced by you either.
There is an old saying that evil triumphs when good men do nothing.

Sorry to try and be a smart-arse, but she's been registered here since at least March 2004 and has 2 posts, so no moderation at all, really...

I think it did get a bit blown out of proportion but hey, we passed the halfway through winter mark about a week ago so folk were a bit highly strung (I know I was!!!) , but Spring and Summer are en route! /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif I personally cant wait!

And FWIW, I didnt see the picture so cant really comment, but I doubt it was worth the bother, nobody has the right to tell anyone else what to contribute to a forum so personally if it bothered me I would have just skipped the post /forums/images/graemlins/ooo.gif

Not intended as a dig to anyone, just my view /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Chris

P.S: As michievous as T25 might be, there are only a few on here who consider him the personification of evil /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif

OK that's what you might do. You might also cross the road to avoid getting involved in other forms of trouble too, that's your choice. But as a forum user, I also I have a right to comment on another's post and tell him I found it offensive if it was.
You cannot have freedom of speech without the freedom to comment upon it. What you are looking for is tacit agreement though silence. Sorry chum I don't do that!
Agree to dissagree by all means but I still think personal attacks on Louise, or anybody else for that matter, is out of order and I have a right to say so regardless of how long they have been here.

Of course, being even handed, someone should point out that just because a view is held only by a minority, it isn't necessarily wrong.........
