harbour festival

There is a waiting list for a berth on the festival pontoons.

Worth getting your name down in December time, you can always decide not to go.

However, there is nothing they can do if you turn up. A few from Portishead are going to do this anyway.

You will then end up mooring near the cottage (or the inlet if you are there early enough) Not quite in the thick of it, but quieter :-)

There is always a queue getting into Bristol on friday.

I spoke to Dockmaster today and he said they will make sure everyone gets in. Just listen on the vhf and they will call you in when they are ready.

It a great festival and worth going

we havent booked in for this but now have the chance to go. is it possible just to turn up on the day and pay then? in the boat that is.

I presume your talking about the Bristol Harbour festival?

We have turned up unbooked several times.Usually means berthing down at Baltic Wharf as the pontoons etc will be full.Never been turned away and its only a 5 minute walk .
you have to be prepared to raft up .

If you are mooring near the Cottage you need be very carefull as the concrete bank is very low. You need to ensure your fenders don't lift up. It could be much worse if you have boats rafted to you.

"Looked at the weather forecast and now having second thoughts."

That just about sums up this summer. Lets hope for a better Autumn.

Hopefully everyone I know will have a great time at the festival. If you get a chance look out for Smerin anti-social club, they are a fun band who really entertain! Don't worry about the weather, there are good days out there, I had my best sail of the year today! 25 miles, mooring to mooring in less than 4 hours!
Enjoy my home town!

Not a lot of masts there given that it started as a festival of the sea with mainly sea going boats. But the photos are pretty nevertheless.

Didnt go in the end - the weather forecast put us off. The thought of rain.

Looks like a bad decision.
