Some of you have already been bored to death by this either in person or on Farcebook but for those ears I haven't managed to bend yet ...

Brigantia will soon be on the market and looking for a new owner (or perhaps not but that's another stor)

'Cos Jane (and I if I'm honest) fell head over heels in love with a bigger boat which we (initially casually) looked at whilst out and about on our gentle cruise last week

She's a Sabre 27 in superb condition (if it can be replaced or re-newed it has been within the last 8 years) and we can't afford her but we're not letting that get in the way!

She's ours subject to survey and what have you and I'll get around to blogging about it in more detail later

As I said in the other place, good looking boat, have lots of fun.

if its the one I think it is keep your eye on the fridge cooler, off shore power needs to be on minimum cooling, otherwise it drags battery down quickly, also if turning back on make sure temp is at minimum otherwise it heats content of fridge to 60°, only mention as I found these things out after cocking it up. Hot lager not good.

This'n comes with a huge list of pros and hardly any cons at all. Even the things I'd like to change or improve can hardly be described as faults. Of course, we can't really afford it but you only get one chance at life and I've never seen the dear lady wife so enthusiastic about anything before in all our years together!

Good one that, Erbasydoom does have a way with words!

We did feel that the lifetime of the opportunity was strictly time limited in this case - it may be a bit of a flat market but I don't think "Erbas" was going to hang around on the books for long. We didn't pay the full asking price and we got a couple of extras thrown in all of which gives me a warm glow of pride at my negotiation skills ... and all of which I suspect was exactly what the vendor intended in the first place , he ho if we're both happy it makes the world a slightly better place

I'd have sold body parts to pay almost any price for the boat anyway 'cos the look of delight on Jane's face when the deal went through was beyond mere monetary matters and what makes her happy makes me happy!!!

Now there's the boring hiatus of sorting out all the paperwork, moving money about, dealing with the formalities and forms and what have you

Then I suppose we'd better schelp some more antifoul on the bottom before she goes in the water - she's had a coat of Cruiser Uno to tart her up for sale but I think it would be worth our while going for a two year job with the Jotun Seaqueen that's working so well on Brigantia - the saving in life out / lift in costs will pay for a winter pontoon berth in the (or even a) marina which appeals greatly

That's what I've been telling herself for years, and it's finally (sort of) worked as I'm granted permission to sell Sixpence, as long as the funds raised go towards another boat
Problem now is, how to sell, not exactly the best time of year I thought

not a bad time at all, folk can get some sailing in before lay-up & they can then work up a list for the winter

Somehow I think your good lady may object to that though

Main problem for me is trying to figure out how much she's worth, done some searches and found others selling for anything from £1K to £4K plus, so although I want to price for a sale I don't want to lose out on value either way. Very confusing

As for Brigantia, name change ?, hope we all get invites to the name change party, I hear they're quite wild and boozy

thank you all for the kind words both about the blog (it's just something I knocked up, you know? :-} ) and about our new pride and joy. we're just dying to complete all the formalities and go play with her!
