HAPPY NEW YEAR

Yes ditto that...

I am just waiting for the celebrations to wind up, making my fancy dress moustache and glasses we all have to make in this family for board games later AND looking at Rustler 36's but once again realising how lucky I am to have my perfect for me, little IF Boat. Hopefully we can all enjoy a decent sailing season next year...

Best wishes to you all for a Happy, Healthy and prosperous New Year.

Never has Auld Lang Syne seemed more poignant.

Best wishes for 2021 and my thanks to all those who offered useful and insightful guidance in response to the many questions which I asked last year.

Желаю всем счастливого нового года ! Yangi Yil Bilan!
As they say here in Uzbekistan.... wait a minute, what is someone in a doubly landlocked country like Uzbekistan doing posting in Scuttlebutt?!
My boat Wanda is languishing in a Newhaven boatyard awaiting our return - for us, Cv19 has meant that we got stuck here, working, and I haven’t seen my family for a year and a half, yet alone had a chance to sail.
Future plans to retire to the Med have also had to change.... so who knows what the New Year will bring for us

"Καλη Πρωτοχρονιά" for the Greek speakers and for all the lucky people who keep their boats in Greece and enjoy the Hellenic food and culture, and indeed to all yachties where ever they are.

Ano, velmi dobry.

Vyborny, :) in fact.

I love language and for some reason have an ear for the Slavic based ones.

I love the story about an Irish poet and philosopher who lived on the Aran Islands and did all his work in the Gaelic.

He was asked the following question :-

" Now Seamus, the Irish have this great reputation for being laid back and relaxed, not too much rushing about. Tell me, is there a word which is the equivilent of the Spanish word 'manana' ? "

Seamus reflected a moment before answering :-

" Sure, and there are perhaps five or six of them. But none carry the same driving sense of urgency! "

Language - dont you just love it!
