Re: Correction

Does anyone actually understand what on earth they are trying to say? I am pondering the chicken'n'egg principle that it is either the funny way they spell in Scotland that makes them pronounce their words so strangely, or the funny way they speak that makes their spelling so impossible to read.
Please enlighten me.

Re: Correction

Dear Becky, allow me to enlighten you. What you are seeing is mostly a lowland Scots dialect. This was the tongue of Robert Burns and others(e.g. mainly a few o' ra eejits oan this forum) and it may help you to translate by looking here.
I actually reside on the Norfolk/Suffolk boundary, and believe me when I say, that as a local dialect, that is every bit as difficult for me to understand at times. /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

Splash, crash

Claysie,

Ardic? Surely you're thinking of Artic, a way of finding submarines by dropping road trailers on them and waiting to hear the crash.

Come to think of it, just like that trailer the wee boatie is sitting on.
