Hanging anchor light

I recently bought one from Sailingsaves, of this parish.

It's brilliant (haha), and certainly cheap enough.

A very happy (totally independent) customer.

It would be worth pm'ing him.

Many thanks:
I have now come up with a MEGA bright one, but it draws 0.4 Amps, so only to be used if anchored where likely to be hit.

option E) £18.99 seems the most well liked. 160mAmps (0.160)Amps

Bloomin' eck .... if it's brighter than the one you sold me, I'd recommend wearing sunglasses when going on deck at night.

2 or 3 times brighter about as bright as a 100 W incandescent (hence the high 0.4Amps), but all LED, in a new surround and more indestructible and submersible (well, this one floats). Only to be used if anchoring in a dodgy place I reckon.

Mine doesn't. But it uses very little power if you forget to turn it off. Although if you want it to come on automatically I can see why it would be useful

I have one of these supplied by one of our forum members http://www.boatlamps.co.uk/contents/en-uk/d80.html

Fit it at the same time as the anchor ball, plug it in and forget it. Has a dusk till dawn sensor so completely automatic, and over night the led bulb uses next to nothing

We also have this one and so far so good. Replaced a non LED equivalent.

(Not tied to an anchor ball as the dust might cause severe damage :-)

You may not want a dawn-dusk sensor if you need the light in fog.
Which is a good time to have a bright one, IMHO.

That is a good point actually, and not one I had considered - although thinking about it, most of my anchoring is summertime and usually in recognised anchorages.

But a good point, thanks :encouragement:

Bit of tape over the sensor on that occasion should do the job
I'd rather wake up and switch the thing off at breakfast time than wake up every dawn to check it's not misty.
And I want to see the damn thing working before I leave the boat.
So I see very little benefit of auto-switches, in fact generally something I would rather not have.
It's only ever going to save a couple of hours x a couple of watts.
When batteries were smaller and bulbs were 25W, there was a point to it.
