Hang anchor from pullpit

Anyone know what the hooks that fit on the pullpit and hang the anchor off it called? I'm thinking of changing the anchor set up from a very heavy, hard to deploy plough type to a danforth which is hanging on the pulpit that could be deployed by dropping it over the bow? I can't find anything in the online chandleries. I've seen boats with this set up, have they been made themselves or purchases a modification for this? Cheers, Phill
 
 
The best place to stow an anchor for a Windermere boat is in the garage.

Well maybe not that inacessible but in a locker is fine.

I have found that anchoring is a fair weather activity so all the stuff about anchor type and type of rode and how much scope is almost irrelevant.
If the anchor would be doing any real work you go back to your mooring or tie up to a jetty.

My danforth is hanging off what you are looking for but they are welded on, as Vic says, get a man in to fab and fit some.
 
When I had a Danforth, it was mounted on the pulpit by means of 2 welded on rings. The crossbar of the anchor went through the rings and it was secured by an 'R' pin through a small hole in the crossbar. You could drill your pulpit and fit 2 eye bolts to achieve the same thing for a few pence.
I'd be worried about it jumping out of 'S' hooks.

If you are going for a Danforth type the Fortress have a clip that can be attached to the rail for holding the anchor in readiness for deployment.

I have one attached to the pushpit.

Personally I would prefer my anchor to be more easily deployable even for lake sailing. It resides in the anchor locker but is awkward to get under the pulpit rails, I have never had to deploy it on Windermere in adverse conditions, I did have to on Loch Lomond and spent our first night at anchor hanging off it in strong winds blowing off the shore with the shore on the other side of the bay we were in not that far away, that taught me that good holding is important even on in land lochs and lakes.

There are many places on Windermere where if motoring I would like to be able to sling the hook out PDQ if the engine failed, as if it is blowing there may be insufficient time to get the sails up and under control.

Nearly lost it on the delivery trip home, Boat well heeled over having a great sail until
The anchor slipped out from holders on pulpit. I had lashed the shank it so it didn't go over board. I did have to run forward and retrieve it to aviode damage. from then on I all ways lashed into holder and to top rail of pulpit.

Hence the need for a drilling and 'R' pin.
