Handheld VHF - Entel 640 or Icom M-1V Euro

Re: Handheld VHF - Intel 640 or Icon M-V Euro

For what it's worth I use the Entel 640. It is used virtually every day, it doesn't live in a grab bag it lives on my life jacket. It gets sunburnt and regularly drowned, it gets drooped and just thrown in the back of the car. I only have to charge about every 10 days. Last week I came across the channel - it was picking up Tx's even B4 the boat's radio did. Oh, and I like it's big clear screen.

Excellent Model and Excellent FREE publicity for them and I was just thinking that it would be really nice of ICOM to hand me out another to see if that lasts 20 years. I'd be quite happy to do a long term meaningful comparative analysis

Thank you for all the kind comments /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I was around when the M11 was built, not in nappies but deff short trousers!!

One thing to consider is how long have the company been around and how long will the be around for?

We have been building radio for about 40 years, Yaesu (Standard) have been around about the same.

We will support units for about 10 years after we stop making them.

Can some of the others offer you this service?

If you looking for a radio and in no real rush it would be worth hanging on till January.
There are always some good offers to be had at boat show time.
Also worth checking to see of some dealers still have radio's at the Southampton boat show offer price.

Oh please do stop the Audi, that's the accountant, it will make his day!

Ok. What does it mean then?

To be honest the Cobra was under £90 - and it was a wedding present. What a thoughtful family I have.
