Handheld Marine VHF

Re: 3 year warranty...

Can't find that anywhere, i would interested in a link.
My understanding is the US warranty is about 90 days!

I stand to be corrected.

Re: 3 year warranty...

Just seen that myself but thanks.
I think, looking at other products offering 3 year warranty this looks like something West are doing themselves, very good if they are.

I know some companies in the UK offer extended warranties on some kit.

Regards

Icom America say it\'s a 3 year warranty...

[/ QUOTE ] Looking at the Icom America website, it seems that the 3 year warranty is official.

We use HH VHF's in our work and have done fore years .... Our inspectors go out in -30C winters, snow / ice/rain and also blazing summers at +30C ... and all inbetween weathers ...

We have had Icom, Standard, Swiftech, Raymarine etc. etc. etc.

ALL the Swiftechs are still working - albeit ditch the NiCD battery packs after a year though ... (we cut them open and replace with NiMH).
Only 1 Icom survived and that's an older M1 version .... still with original battery as well !
The Standards and Raymarines got lost / nicked / mislaid.

Anyway - the bottom line is cheap and expensive - we haven't really seen much benefit for £'s .... the cheap M198 Swiftechs have performed very well. Once you get to see different models - you realise that the Swiftech is actually remarkably similar to other cheap and NOT SO cheap other brands ! So it appears they may be same machines with re-badging going on.

With the harsh use my guys exact on them ... I prefer to pay less and swap 'em out later with new - not pay expensive and still swap out at similar intervals !! I can buy 2 or 3 cheapos for price of up-market machine !!

IMHO of course .....

(M1 + M2 ..... are pretty well standard on most UK sold HH's now .... cheapo's as well !!)

Surprising...

It has to be said that it's surprising that you of all people claim not to be aware of Icom warranties in other markets.
