Plz show me?

Can't find my socks if they bit me, sometimes. Same goes with the decompression lever. I'm starting to think I have one of the 2001's without it.

Could someone plz go to the site of the boat, design section, and sort of show me on the photo of my engine where the lever is situated

Re: Plz show me?

I've looked at you site and engine photo. The decompression lever should be just above the top of the fuel filter on the left edge of the rocker cover. There is something there on the photo but is not clear. You lift the lever vertical not right 180 deg over as listed below.

I don't have any experience with a Volvo, but the engine in my boat (Stuart Turner Sole 11hp) had a clever piece of string attached to the decompressor lever and around a small block to floor level - the trick was to stand on the string, wind the engine over like a dervish, and when top speed reached, lift your foot to release the valve lifter. Unfortunately this piece of high tech design was not my idea, but it worked every time.

Another tip given to me was to have a colleague (if present) wind the engine over gently for a while to loosen everything up, and inject some diesel, prior to giving it all you've got.

It's worth getting some practice in, so if disaster strikes, you know it can be done.
