Hand Held VHF

Re: VHF ashore

One interesting difference between having a licence FOR a handheld as opposed to using a handheld under a fixed station licence is that you can use the licenced handheld on ANY vessel whereas the subsidiary handheld can only be used in association with the licenced vessel......not everybody knows that

Re: VHF H/H

but B1 does anybody care.

If you take your H/H onto another boat that has a VHF licence, he can have an unlimited number of portables including the one you have "loaned for the day" covered by his licence. So it only applies if you take one out on a boat that doesn't have a full VHF licence and then one could make a good case that the vessel is a tender to your own boat. If it is so big that no-one would accept it as a tender and it doesn't have a VHF licence, why are you out on it?

Re: VHF H/H

aha.....but then I do take my handheld on to other boats that do not have a ship licence so yaboosux cos I care...... ;-)
