Anyone able to give advice on any moorings at Hampton Court?

We are new to the Thames and thought it might be a nice destination for Boxing day?

Thanks in advance

Stu

Sounds like you are looking for a short stay mooring...

Heading upstream from Teddington you will find good/safe/quiet and probably very empty moorings on the RHS just before Hampton Court Bridge.

They are owned by the palace and monitored by a external company. You need to register your arrival and perhaps pay a fee for the duration of your stay. See pic.

A lovely destination for a day out.IMG_20210430_101353.jpg

As a Thames visitor regard HC as cracking mooring . Free for first 24 hours and a paltry sum for another day. Always clean and trouble free. Shops handy and food outlets of all classes nearbye.
Stuff to do on your doorstep and handy railway station.

It is a very nice mooring.

Of course being close to Molesey lock downstream the level changes quite a lot after rain and it can be affected by spring tides overtopping Teddington as well.

The edge is concrete with Larssen piling below so possibility of getting caught under the "lip*. Take plenty of fenders. The downstream end of the bank there is lower but it's quite shallow by the tree.

Also you can get some odd currents out of the River mole if it is discharging a lot of water. Best spot is right at the top end by the slightly irritating steps.

Overall a good spot with some caveats in winter.

Fingers crossed for a couple of dry weeks that would be good !

As others have said a very nice mooring and managed by DE so after the first 24 hours it is £8 a day.

Planning to be there Xmas day and have done it several times in the past.

Nice pub called the Mute Swan and the shop next door is always worth a visit for quirky presents and fab cakes. Toilets at the Station in the Hotel near the bridge.

River has picked up a bit up here near Henley. Not checked but I think probably yellow boards now.

I've two weeks off for boating purposes from the 20th so would definitely like it to be dry for the next week or so.

Ah, a few yellows up around Abingdon this morning.
