Hammerhead in French

Does anyone know the French for Hammerhead....pontoon that is, not shark!

We've scanned all the usual suspects for a translation but nowhere can we find out what the French call a 'hammerhead' mooring. Oh and while I'm on the topic, the Spanish equivalent would be useful too.

Thanks to all who have taken the trouble to respond. As we suspected there is no direct equivalent to 'Hammerhead' in French but there are various terms which communicate the same ....i.e. "that bit at the end of the pontoon".

On a similar note, we were initially thrown by seeing a sign at one marina pointing to "Corps morts"....'dead bodies'. Initially we thought that French marina owners took a somewhat more severe approach to those who default on mooring fees or who, perhaps, fail to deploy fenders. Oh no, it transpired that 'Corps morts' are the lumps of concrete to which swinging moorings are attached.

I wonder how the French report they've found a real 'Corps morts' to the coastguard!

My favourite is the good old French word - Catway.

Also, I find it odd when they have a nice short word like Cale and then use Slipway. Franglais rules OK.
