Although there were some disreputable-looking people around on Stone Point when we made our way back to Titchmarsh in the evening, it was a fine afternoon for rainbows. I wonder how many people also took photos. The evening bow was the brightest I have ever seen and is almost unmodified in the third pic.

I took a ton of photos - it was the brightest rainbow either of us had ever seen. great when it went from horizon to horizon (a full half rainbow) but my wide angle wasn't enough to fit it all in :(

Have not uploaded pics from the holiday yet, will do so soon and post a few here.

Funny, we took pics from Hamford water where we were anchored and there is a Hallberg-Rassy at the end of our rainbow too - what does it all mean?

The HR owner was with us at the time and the sun certainly shines on us HR owners, or should that be "we". I probably upset a lot of people when we were racing up the Walton channel later to get in before it got too dark to see the moorings.

Is that last photo taken in the Walton channel looking up past Stone Pt on the right?

Trying to work out if we saw you that weekend - we came in from Hamford and anchored at Stone Pt on Sunday and stayed overnight. We'd spent Thu & Fri night in Titchmarsh on A pontoon while we did the laundry. Talked to a couple of HR owners while we were around.

No. It was taken from our raft of three well up Hamford Water. The HR 342 was also one of our party, as was a Hanse. We left Titchmarsh just ahead of you but weren't one of the HRs you spoke to; we don't normally talk to owners of Island Packets less than about 45 feet. :D I dare say you saw the one I mean, which belongs to a friend of ours.

OK got it, we saw the smack come in and anchor way up the top end so I know where you are now. The other Rassy was last-but-one boat at the eastern end of Hamford.

Funny, we are somewhere in that photo.

Was that you we tucked in behind coming out of Titchmarsh, with the Southerly just in front of you?

Er, no. I was the one that came from the peasants' end and passed in front of you by the fuel jetty. There was another boat going slowly ahead.

Here is a section of the photo enlarged:

I don't suppose anyone got a photo of the chap who capsized his clinker dinghy near the head of Hamford Water on Sunday pm did they? I would provide me with valuable office ribbing material!

Yes, that's right, we'd just backed out of A20 and you went past as we headed to the fuel jetty - thought I'd seen the boat name somewhere but thought it was while we were out somewhere.

It was the Southerly that was going dead slow and we all sort of piled up going into Twizzle Creek :) I thought it was you that was being slow but noticed you hammered past the guy once there was space :)

If it's any consolation, 42ft is the entry qualification before we acknowledge Rassy owners :p

Thanks. I know my place.

BTW, my tanking was within the 6kn limit but may have looked faster downtide, and I did slow down once or twice past occupied tenders.

Did anyone else notice the two WW11 fighters on that Saturday afternoon. We were crossing Pennyhole Bay and they made several passes in close formation, from Walton, over Dovercourt to Bawdsey & back.
Mustangs I think, unless someone corrects me.
Fabulous sight & sound!

I didn't see them that day but they were around a day or two before. I think the plane I saw yesterday was a Sea Fury.
