Anyone have knowledge or experience of berthing at any of the marinas/boat yards above the Hamble A27 bridge?
Security, parking, restaurants and ease of mooring on spring tides between boats as opposed to the usual finger pontoon?

Eastlands? Cabin boat yard? That area you mean?
If so then no, I've never kept a boat there but take the tender down past it quite regularly. When the tide is ebbing it really does rip out. Personally I'd be planning to arrive at slack water or an hour either side. Then there is the height restriction to deal with if you boat is tall? I can't talk about parking or security, but the Navigator pub or the old ship are OK for food and drinks. Never been into the restaurant in premier marina except for coffee. I'm sure others will have more info on that.

I have berthed at Foulkes Riverside Yard for many years. Excellent yard mostly with walk ashore berths, some are partially drying, but the mid river are permanently afloat. With a ~4m air draft I can get under the A27 bridge on top of a 5m spring tide. Security is good due to the high volume of liveaboards. Parking is sometimes a bit difficult, but has improved since a permit system has been introduced.

Plenty of good pubs, bars and restaurants within 10-30 minutes stroll.

But because the fees are ~ half those charged down river the place is generally full. I'm informed I've just taken the last 40' berth for my Grand Banks. Note they will charge by your measured total overall length. But recently there was also space at The Cabin and Eastlands, but not RK.

We moored at Eastlands for a few years and left just before it changed hands in 2020. Berthing was occasionally a challenge if it was breezy and the river running hard but it certainly taught us how to handle our boat with no bow thruster. The people there were friendly enough. Only real problem in the summer was swimmers coming over from the opposite bank and climbing on boats occasionally. had to leave because we couldnt live aboard there when we got our bigger boat.

When we bought Rafiki she was moored at The Cabin. We used the mooring there for a couple of weeks before moving her. Folk there are friendly. Limited facilities. Chinese on the corner, and chippy a 10 minute walk away. The stream certainly rips twice a tide, and mooring best avoided at this time. We could‘nt get under the A27 bridge for 90 mins either side of high water. Trains can be noisy, but the road is ok.
