I’m trying to arrange a local fuel company to deliver via tanker @ 61.86ppl
Inc delivery and vat, although 150 feet hose limit so may have to meet at a convenient jetty, even if it’s by the barrel its still the same price.

Hi Rick,
Got an e-mail from the Harbour master Tony Clatworthy on the Hamble informing me of an amount of regulations involved regarding the risk of putting a hose across a pontoon and filling the tanks up.

i.e., spill plan, additional response plan and/or risk and method statements required and in addition to the insurance and licence ramifications etc..........

Road delivery is the right way to drive the price to its correct level but obviously not on the Hamble!!!!!!!!!

I might invest in a proper bowser and use our company to supply all the necessary documentation, then fuel to anyone who wants to buy it anywhere on the south coast as long as they can arrange to be at a public/private mooring.

As usual it’s a jobs worth, if our company has to arrange for the training and correct protocol including the risk etc (strange no one has mentioned fire) then, if the price is right we might take a REAL risk and invest.

Strange that the very people who love the river and respect the environment are the ones that get penalised the most................

I hate to think of the times have I fuelled up on the Hamble and there has been no, none, zero, nada, Nish fuel spill kit at the pontoons and its been acceptable to wash it off the side decks with a bucket of river or tap water into the river, we have always wrapped the fuel hose with rag to avoid any blowback from the tanks...............
If the issue is that big then boats should be made to drive into an anti-spill area before the gun is ever lifted from the pump....
Sorry for the rant..............
