Using a waterproof shuftiscope, I was able to see a very weedy prop and prop shaft. Apart from the obvious options, expensive lift out or aquiring a wet suit (not at my age :disgust:) has anybody used a local scuba person or similar to clean up below the waterline?

(or any other appealing techmnique?)

Sounds interesting, what's involved?

Arrive at said scrubbing grid while the depth of water is at least 1" greater than your draft or a sudden stop will be encountered.
Park boat against piles and tie up. Do NOT fall asleep as mooring lines will make funny noises.
Count the number of keels under your boat and less than 2 will require some knitting between mast and piles.
Wait for water to disappear.
Walk down very slippy ramp.
Scrub bottom ( of boat)
Wait for water to return.
When said water is at least 1" greater than draft, depart backwards and marvel at the newly acquired speed at which you are heading backwards towards other boats.
Perform faultless 3 point turn and head to sea. :)

Chap I used to sail with had the bottom of his boat scrubbed by what he called a "Frogman". Two weeks later there was a problem so he hauled out and found the Frogman had only cleaned just below the water line
