hairy halyards time to replace

Thought i might get another season out of them but i had a good look today and my hairy halyards need to be replaced. They are starting to fray and I cant get a sensible size measurement. My boat is 27ft and the mast approx 30ft... what would a suitable halyard diameter and material be?

Braid 10 or 12 mm depending on your sheaves.

would using 10mm in 12mm sheaves cause a problem?

On my 28 footer, haliards are 10mm braid. Perhaps some of that posh Dyneema if you're worried about them stretching and giving you a floppy luff.
