Hafren Round Britain

Hafren left Lymington at about 1400, and did take the north passage into Christchurch Bay, but the tracker wasn't working. It should be now. At one point they recorded 11kts SOG - a new record for Hafren - and had a lovely broad reach under spinnaker. I think they are having time to enjoy this last part of the voyage. They may be a day slower on the record than they might have been, but they will arrive having been able to relax a bit. It should be a good party tomorrow night!
Just thinking about it a second, they did Felixstowe Ferry to Lymington with an hour's stop in Dover! I think they are entitled to take the foot off the pedal a bit to arrive feeling good. I don't want them to fall asleep as soon as they get in!

I've got permission to put up the photos taken yesterday as they left Lymington, and they can be seen on the Facebook page, link on the top right of www.xtremedinghycruising.com. It was a good windy sail, and they loved it. By the way, that's a 505 spinnaker!
Now off to Castle cove SC, so no more updates for a while.

They crossed the line at 1400, after 32 days and 2hours. They are on great form, and amazed to be back so soon. They do not propose to do it again!

It was quite an emotional arrival at Castle Cove. I managed to hitch a lift on a yacht to go out and meet them and accompany them in, and a number of other boats went out as well. They passed the North Harbour entrance at 1400, the official finishing line, then sailed under spinnaker up to the jetty, where they were handed a bottle of champers. They sailed around quaffing that and spraying each other before jumping in the water, swimming back to Hafren and bringing her ashore. Then more champagne, interviews with the local press, a shower, beer, more beer, and then we put the boat on the trailer and took her home.
What are we all going to do now?

Jeremy and Phil are on Points West on BBC at 6.30pm tonight, Monday, 7th July. I just caught the tail end of a trailer at the end of the lunchtime news.

What a wonderful way to finish a fantastic trip! Thank you for all your efforts in posting on here, Facebook etc.
Allan

Thanks, Allan. It was a great adventure, and I still find it hard to believe it was over so quickly.
Thanks to you and everyone else who followed it through the various media I used. I'm happy if you enjoyed it as much as I did!
