Hello, hope someone out there can help.
I am trying to register my 1972 Contest on the small ships register, however the only number I can find is 14 on the builders plate, the boat was in the US for sometime where it was registered under DO552680.

I am not sure where the latter number came from.

Could anyone point me in the right direction?

thanks

The HIN is optional. only the overall length and the owners details are required for SSR documentation.

HIN are moulded into the hull on the starboard side, aft end just below the rubbing strip. If it's not there , it hasn't got one but the MCA will still give you a SSR number.

Agree HIN not required. May not be on starboard side though - especially with older boats. Mine, for example, is moulded into port transom.
