I think you'll find that Icom more or less set the prices - unofficially of course! - when they agree discount levels. So the retailers are probably making much the same margin as before.

Recently returned a 3yr old hand held icom as battery did not seem to hold charge. Icom had offerred to check batteries FOC. Unfortunately somehow they went missing so Icom replaced batteries FOC as a goodwill gesture. Its when things go wrong that the quality of the manufacturer/supplier becomes important. I would now only buy icom radios and never buy any boat fitted with Volvo bits!
