H Boat

H-Boats

Some two years ago I bought an H-Boat. I would highly recommend them.
Good performance in both heavy and light winds. Easily sailed single handed. Can be towed.
Favourably handicapped under IRC. Mine had had Pulpit and lifelines added which gave more confidence to the crew. However, while there are 4 berths and cooker and in mine a toilet ,the overall accommodation is slightly cramped with sitting headroom only. So when this time last year the opportunity arose to purchase The H boats bigger sister in the form of an H-323 I seized it.Now I have standing headroom an inboard engine and faster. After 35 years of owning 18 -23 ft boats I am delighted with my venture into a true cruiser racer. At the end of the month I am heading up the West coast of Scotland ,hopefully in comfort!

H-Boats

On Both models the masts are deck stepped. My previous two boats had keel stepped masts and I was never able to prevent dampness down below. They also have proper bilges which means that if there is any dampness it tends to stay in the bilge rather than rolling through the boat when healed.
The H boat has a 7/8 rig with 110% jib while the H323 is 3/4 rigged with a full overlapping genoa for racing, although there is a self tacking jib as well which makes single handed sailing very easy.

Doug748, is that a Marieholm IF? (On a damn iphone & can't be sure, well, can't do much! And hate this new mo ile format). Indeed very pretty either way. Was ogling a couple of MIFs the other day (in Copenhagen, only seen one in UK) and fancied it rotten, but...

It ain't a 101, still the one for me.but right now, any boat afloat would suit me down to the ground. Jem.

Yes mrjemm, an IF boat by Marieholm.
They race them as a class in St Mawes and you see the odd one come up for sale now and again. They tend to be pricey. Very much H Boat style but with a full long keel. Well put together with a fast, fractional rig.
Like the H Boat, a yacht you would sail just for the fun of sailing
