I have an MG spring 25 which I am very happy with we spend most of our sailing in the solent, but as a relatively inexperienced sailor when say on the way back from Cowes to Chichester with the wind up, and the boat heeled over at sometimes alarming angles What is the GZ curve of a spring, could it be blown over and would it recover, any body know?

Or do I reef early, be prepared to ease the main and don’t think about it.

I've sailed them in up to about 45kts in flattish Solent waters. No, it won't go over, and if it did, the shedlike coachroof will, if the washboard is in, provide a fair righting moment on it's own. In a broach the toerail hardly goes under.

Do reef though, it was provided with a much higher than average sail area.

welcome to the gang, they are a fantastic sail but reefing early is fastest, I went to Dartmouth for the regatta and got 7Knots up wind with full main and no3 genoa, with 500kilos on the rail!!!!!!! Im based at Itchenor, what is the name of your boat? and do check out the spring site http://www.sbrown.demon.co.uk/

Don't know the CZ curve. You could telephone Tony Castro. On a fast Channel crossing in July we had Spring Fever occasionally slopping water into the cockpit without any cause for alarm. However, since you have to 'hike out' in exciting winds, I think the bigger danger is falling overboard when dropping into a trough. We always clip on in F5 and moderate seas.
