Gymnasium Bars

I have some old gymnasium exercise bars what wood are they made from please you experts

Gawd, they bring back memories from prep school - being made to hang on by hand alone from the top one for hours & hours, on pain of death etc. etc. You know, a proper education ...

Please burn them.

I think you'll find them of little benefit unless you place them vertically.

The ones in the school gym were a deep red colour - possibly mahogany - and the bars didn't flex at all.

We used to have to go round the whole gym/assembly hall off the ground in less than two minutes, or get "gated" (painful)

The ones in my old school were made from a really good grade of either oregon pine or pitch pine.
If i was you i would not cut them up for the timber they must have a higher value as accessories for a dungeon or bordello!
