Hello all.
I am in the process of refitting my T31 and wondered if anyone here has any knowledge of the keel trim-tab gear. Currently all I can see is a GRP lump over where the stock should be and nothing else seems to be left. The tab itself is still in position and glassed in.
It is more of an aspiration than a necessity to re-instate it, but as it stands I know nothing about the operating gear so thought I would ask here.

If you can live with an extra hole in the boat and you are going to race competitively and it doesnt impinge on your rating then its a worthwhile addition. There are plenty of boats around today that would benefit from the use of them but either class or a severe rating penalty preclude their use. The T31 was a great boat in its day/. With the rise in the antique racing classes (T31 was a half tonner I think) and if this is the route you are going then researching the performance benefit versus rating should be the primary driver. Sorry cant help wiith the mechanism but a number of Swans were fitted with trim tabs on their keels as well as metre class boats. Try the Swan owners association.

Thanks for the suggestion.
If I do race her it will be under either local handicap or NHC so it's unlikely to be a major setback to my ability to win a race.
And if it is a bit penalty, it must make the boat faster right?

The boat will be a better performer for it!
