That 730 in post #3 does look very neat - I wonder why nobody seems to build small flying bridge motor boats anymore?
They were all the rage years ago.
I couldn't find a 730 for sale on Yachtworld, but here is an 830 for sale, with twin diesels.

The ones built today, e.g. Beneteau Antares 30 or Rodman, are too big and too expensive for me. About 24-25 ft suits me best, with the Guy Couach 730 having just the right hull type, layout and size for my needs. Trouble is I can't get any feedback on a 30+ year model, preferably with a Volvo Penta rather than the more widespread Iveco (Fiat) Aifo engine.

The 1979 boat looks like it’s loved (if the pictures are recent)
The 1985 boat looks like it’s been sitting a while. A good clean up might do the job or it’s a new interior. The engine bay looks clean though. It’s priced to move and I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s negotiable.
They are both in the south, which means you could see both in one road trip (if we are ever allowed to again ?)
Certainly worth asking both vendors for lots more pictures

Anyone with with experience of (or knowledge about) Guy Couach 730 Fly please chime in. Shaft drive, usually powered by Iveco Aifo or Volvo Penta diesels. Latest production year I came across was 1991.

In 2006 I bought a 1986 French Guy Couch when I lived in France. . The smaller 660. (wish I had it now) Extremely well built. It had a 72hp 4 cyl Iveco AIFO engine which was basically a marinized Iveco Daily Van engine. (pre turbo) Wonderful hull. But I had problems in getting engine parts in the UK.
In my boat I wanted to change the Cam Belt, ordered a cam belt kit. But the lower roller was different than the one on the engine.
So I bought a lower roller for the same engine as fitted to an industrial generator, another one fitted to a van engine and they were all different, so I had to keep the original. Its a shame that these engines never really crossed the channel, but thousands fitted in France/Italy etc.
If you buy it dont bring it back to the UK, as its a make nobody has heard of you will struggle to sell it. (I nearly gave mine away)
I would try and find what vehicle they also fitted these Diesel Engines in and find out how much a Cam Belt Kit is, injectors ,glow plugs etc.

I found that when I was buying my Guy Couch, I "had" to have it surveyed in order to get French Insurance. (confirms valuation for insurance) The boat yard I was buying it from arranged it. They also made sure that all the French documents were available, like the French Boat Registration (like a passport) where it had been created when the boat was new, together with a photograph of the original owner. Also the original invoice showing that French Vat had been paid.
I note the boat is for sale on Leboncoin, which I believe is like a French eBay. I would perhaps ask a local Boat broker how much they would charge to handle the documentation should you buy it.

As I recall, the seller pays the agents fees. You all have to go to the boat administrative place for your area to sign the paperwork, but the dealer set it all up.
A friend recently sold a fifty foot boat in days to the first person who called on Leboncoin.

PS. Looking at the photo of the 6 cyl diesel, Giving 150 hp I assume that it is non turbo, if you had to re-engine a 4 cyl Turbo engine would free up a lot of space. Looking at the hull shape I assume that it is similar to the hull on my smaller Guy Couch where I believe the shape is a Semi Displacement Hull.
Dont do as I did. The boat I was buying had no speedometer. In France I had a Garmin sat nav, so I got that and set off and it was showing 14 knots, Ok I thought. But it wasn't, it was 14 kilometres per hour. My Guy Couch had twin stainless steel fuel tanks which obviously did not need replacing even at 30 years old.
