thanks pinnacle for the harbour masters direction without vhf------i see there is legal way to get to the camber----get marshalled across or shadow a boat with vhf going to gun wharf
Hello all, I am new to boating and have completed my VHF course today. I also have purchased my first ever 13ft speedboat which I am really looking forward to getting on the water. However, I am not certain what permission I need to ask when crossing from balas to camber and into the open water and which channel to follow. Is anyone please able to help me? I have a VHF handheld radio as well in my boat.
It may well be 10 knots but also watch you wash. I was going in at 8 knots when the harbour master put his blue lights on and came over to me to have a word.
he asked my speed and I said 8 knots he then said look behind me. there was a big wake as the boat did not like going that slow
But what would they call them.At least the VHP seem to know how to deal with jetski which is a skill other harbours might emulate . I’m actually surprised they haven’t started a branch at the Hamble to deal with all the issues reported there on other posts .
Happens all the time.We came in one summers weekend, very busy at the entrance, some ####### ### in a small power cruiser came in too fast leaving a huge wake that made us roll in a 26 yacht, the family of 4 with two small kids in a sailing dinghy pitched from side to side and only just managed to keep the boat upright, seriously not the place to capsize a dinghy.
