I am getting a small puddle of coolant below the front of the engine. It appears to be coming out of the gasket on the recirculation pump. Is there something I can apply to save stripping it down?

Can I just top up the coolant with a bit of water until the job is dealt with it?

I suspect that you are going to tell me do the job and not bodge it.

Provided there is not some good reason why it'll be unsuitable for this engine .... Radweld or similar.

I had to replace the gasket on mine two years ago, sealant bodge did not work. Job is not very difficult if you have reasonable access to that side of the engine. I would recommend fitting a new set of the push fit rubber pipe-end seals on reassembling. Worth while also checking and cleaning the heat exchanger while you are at it.
