Just uploaded my tracks from my GPS and saw this!

Apparently, the Thames from just downstream of Sonning lock through to Shiplake lock should be one huge lake called "Borough Lake"!!!!! Clearly the drought over the last few years has been more severe than we thought!

(In defence of the GPS, it is a "North Atlantic Chart" thats loaded so perhaps it can be forgiven for errors in rural Berkshire).

Hi Martin
What a shame.....we were on the same stretch yesterday. Set off from T&K around 2pm (couldnt rustle up a crew until then despite the sunshine!)...up through Sonning & Shiplake then turned around the island at Lower Shiplake.

Lovely day and my boat handling skills seem to benefitting from being out 3-4 days a week at the moment.

All the best
Simon

Thats interesting, my son was asking about that last week and I thought that I had seen a small weir at the entrance above Shiplake lock.

He will have to explore, he headed up to Twyford last seek but the lack of water stopped him pretty quickly. I understand you can normally get as far as the A4.

The drought round our way has been incredible. It feels like it has rained every day since Easter!! I have seldom seen fields and meadows so lush and green.
