We were lucky to be able to pinch a few day away from work last week to enjoy the fantastic weather on the boat .
Leaving the Needles ,

Passing Alderney ,( the race was flat as a witches wotsit )

Arriving Victoria Marina , ( apparently the rule is to run flat out right up to the harbour entrance  )

We spent a couple of days wandering round the town and enjoying the sunshine and then went and spent the day on buoy at Sark .

Had a great time and had to come back far to soon really .

Again the conditions were perfect so we popped into Alderney on the way back .

A fantastic trip and all the talk about the Alderney Race being awefull seems to be a ploy to keep these beautifull islands nice and peacefull ;)

My new (sailing) boat is in your video!!! Have sold our mobo in the spring we have bought a southerly 115 lifting keel, just taken delivery off her and had our first trip with her, to sark last weekend...and low and behold, there we are, directly ahead of you as you cast off and then on the starboard bow as you head out

Fabulous spot there isn't it...and wonderful weather.

One cautionary note...having spent the first night there on a visitors buoy, a casual inspection on day 2 revealed the 1" thick line on the buoy to the pennant eye ( to which we were moored) had chafed right through and only a few strands remained. Hastily reset our lines and called the harbourmaster, but hate to think what could have happened in such a rocky and tidal place. I will always check mooring buoys more closely...

Lovely pics and vids Andy. Wow you had great weather. We had rubbish weather a few years ago :(. The sun makes such a huge difference to the whole experience. Glad you had a great time.

Thanks Lisa , the sunshine does put the icing on the cake ,
Bathdave you should have shouted across and come and have a beer , forum flag was flying :encouragement:
JFM , yes hanging my head in shame but had the urge to keep up the forum tradition started by ROBG71 and my split second risk assessment calculated that the rocks would catch the worst of it :redface-new: .

Teehee, no worries :). Just wait till Rob gets his new machine down there! Thanks again for the pics, and it's nice to see a cruise report (yours and a few others) after some of the heavy duty stuff on here lately. I might take your inspiration and cobble together a cruise report myself in a minute :-)

Another one for you Bathdave ,

La coupe from La Grand Greve ,

Diesel from boatworks was 78p litre but I am led to believe its cheaper at St Sampsons by tanker .

Great report. Thanks for posting. Quick question though! In the first video you wife unhooks the mooring loop from over the windlass.. is this how you were moored up, or a temporary arrangement prior to departing? We have a Sealine too and are yet to find a simple solution to a single line mooring buoy. It never occurred to me to use the windlass.
Thanks Rob

Thanks thejonesey , when conditions are any worse than perfect we put a bridle between the two forward cleats and through the mooring line which sits in the centre fairlead . I know its a considered risk using the anchor windlass as they are not designed to take heavy snatching loads .

We saw you there as we called in for a couple of days on the way back from Treger, fuel at St Sampson was 59p......
