Off to Guernsey this w/end - unfortunately sans boat. Though we may be coming back with one...

Anyway: any good eateries to be recommended?

Favourite is Saltwater (on the south side of the visitors marina, by the shower block), this is pricey but superb with excellent seafood, steaks and lamb...<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.saltwater.gg/>http://www.saltwater.gg/</A>
The Absolute End (about 20mins walk from the visitors marina towards St Sampsons) is excellent too for seafood especially, also do steak and other stuff.
Da Nello's in the north extension to the High St (I forget the street name) and just 5 mins from the vsitors marina is good too and can offer cheaper choices as well as the full monty.
There are many others but the above are always first choice for us and if I think it is necessary (weekend or holiday) I will ring and book even before we get in - the first two above are that good and worth saving for!

La Nautique (seafood) or Da Nello's (Italian) in St Peter Port are good. The Marina Restaurant at Beaucette Marina (taxi ride) is good too.

The Pollet - one of my favourites too. Invariably eat there when over on business.

Last time, with young children we forsook real food in favour of a child friendly ambience.

I would also like to recommend Le Nautique as well. Address is Quay Steps, St Peter Port. Tel 01481 721714. More or less opposite the visitors marina.

Nello always remembers us because SWMBO once told him she had never had a really good steak since leaving the USA - Nello said he had never had a good one IN the USA and came out with a superb T-Bone to show her, it was excellent but he no longer has it on the menu. Like the spinach/nutmeg there too as well as the way he does scallops, now I'm really getting hungry! Saltwater though is now the real favourite.

Moores Hotel on the Pollet has a good carvery, not too expensive and a level walk from the marinas. Bar lunch at the Guernsey Yacht Club used to be good and the Indian Restraunt on the North Esplanade is a good choice of you like a bit spice. Old Government House Hotel, OGH, on Anns Place is a bit up the hill (up Smith street past the Post Office and keep going) also used to do an excellent dinner with a pianist thrown in. Many, many more all over the Island.

Agree on Da Nellos. Also the Sawati if you like Thai. Right opposite the marina in St PP.

Possible project boat. Idea is to sail Santa T for another year (or so) while doing up a Kingfisher 30 we've just found and which needs quite a bit of TLC.

And now I'll have to kill you.

Having been brought up between two crafty sisters I'm ever alert to female cunning. My next question was going to be 'is it a K30?'.

If you do buy, you're going to have more than mothers to worry about. Every time you sail Santa T you'll have to be careful not to mention 'the other one'. Slip up just once, and she'll never forgive you.

Warning heeded - so if you hear of a young couple stranded, up to their waist in Medway mud, you'll know we had one too many sherbets on board and mentioned 'the other one'...

We'll then just need a K26 and we'll have the whole set. Do you think they fit inside one another like Russian dolls..?

No, they don't fit, but if you heat round the middle of a K26 until it goes a bit soft and then pull firmly on the stern, ... powee, a K30.

Is that the K30 which was eventually completed by the owner? That's a project! You'll need a square meal before you row her back.

Yachts - do them up or sail them. Never both.
 
Thanks for all suggestions. We're only staying 2 nights but I can never resist good food so dividing the amount of time we'll be staying with the number of restaurants we're going to have to try I reckon that comes out at about, oh, a dinner every couple of hours.

Will definitely need a bigger boat now to cope with the extra weight gained.

Could try Christies or Riva also Da Nellos good so is La Nautique.

Place is going to be busy as the Honda Offshore Powerboaters are here this weekend. I will be out watching from the boat as the weather is sposed to be great.
