What about a sail to the channel islands, to see the french and british navy small boats association squaring up to each other ?

Might be a good watch if the weather was not so utterly pants........

If the RN are scarred of a few Somali pirates, then I cannot expect them to last long against a bunch french fisherman . Besides what does one think the RN is actually going to do? If they ram any fishing boats there will be an international incident. If they fired a gun & used up one of their bullets there would be absolute chaos. & where would they fire it? Up in the air? They could not fire it at a fishing boat in case they started lobbing onions, back at them. If they upset one of the French naval boats they might get captured. Then what? Boris would have to beg for his boat back. Can you imagine that? Starmer would bore the pants off us. As for that Laura Kuenssberg , she would be on BBC spouting leftist carp whilst the geezer in the street was shouting his remoaner rhetoric
We would have days of it on BBC. Still would be a change from covid & Scottish indy ref 2 I suppose

The French say they are going to do Trafalgar again. Have they forgotten they lost?
A Frenchman (who at the time was the French Naval Attaché in London) told me a story about the Fleet review in 2005 marking the bicentenary of Trafalgar.

The Duke of Edinburgh (perhaps mildly irritated that the largest ship present was the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle) asked the French Flag Officer if it didn't bother him to be participating in a celebration of Britain's greatest naval victory.

The French admiral replied that whilst he understood that the British were celebrating Trafalgar, the French were there to celebrate the anniversary of the death of Lord Nelson.
