Hi All,

I am going to fit some guard rail netting to my 23' Puma. I have bought some netting but the guard rails are lower than the width of the netting which leaves an excess.

I hope that you don't think of this being a lame question but how would I narrow the net? Can I cut the netting down? Do I gather up the bottom? The netting is a polyester type an isn't knotted. It was bought at a chandlers so is the proper stuff.

A quick 101 on net fitting would be great.

I think that most people use knotted netting which becomes narrower when it is stretched out along the guard rail. In other words, within reason, the netting will fit most guard rails whether they are 15" high or 30". Certainly that's what I've used on my boat.

If your netting will stretch out like that then you won't need to cut it down. But I'm not sure what kind of netting you've got. If it doesn't stretch then, presumably, you will have to cut it down.

Whatever you do, get if fitted before you start cutting! Fitting netting is one of those jobs that seems to take me ages to get it looking neat and tidy.
