GTL Fuel

Our marina has just announced they will be selling GTL (gas to liquid) fuel in replacement of standard diesel. Sounds good on paper but any experience of this out there? Cheers

It sounds interesting - is that Broom boats. I wonder what the price difference will be? Also will it be stained red and taxed 60/40.

Interesting - should be less smoke and soot in the oil than with diesel from crude oil.
Is "a much higher cetane number" only a good thing?

Also interesting will be if a marine engine will still be able to hit max rpms flat out with it:

Price and tax status has not been mentioned yet. We have been pointed to the shell website which mentions all the pros. Sounds great but are there any cons? One report I was reading cited a lower mpg on road vehicles of around 5%. Also I cant find any info as to whether this is more or less susceptible to the dreaded bug.
I'm not being negative towards it - just want to make a fully informed choice.

It contains less energy per litre, you will need more litres to do the same thing.
