GT52 Roof Broken - Advice needed

Well, custom designed motors can be tailored to meet specific application needs, possibly optimised for torque?
Yeah. Getting the roof moving probably requires a torquey motor alright. Just thinking about the location, those motors usually drive a belt or belts, likely one each side of the roof and the motor in the middle?

The torque comes from the reduction box and I think there was a gear on the shaft.

On the princess or at least on a v39. The motor is aft of the roof on the ceiling board. I think the middle one. Not sure where on a fairline though.

He find it on the motor label, I suggest he takes it off tries it direct on a battery reverse the polarity to check both ways.

There is. And although we can't see it, there has to be a 90° turn in there as the gear is offset from the motor shaft.
It's a worm drive - you can see that. That's what gives both the reduction and the 90 degree turn.
I agree with others that the motor will be in the ceiling, on centreline, at the back of the sliding roof . Accessed from above or beneath depending on the boat model.
