Apologies if this subject has been covered before, but couldn't find anything in search.

Thinking of fitting a GSM security camera on boat, rather than IP, seen one which detects movement & auto sends txt & mms photo, boat is in the Med & would like to be sure no unauthorised boarding. Anyone got experience or recommend model or other suggestions?

Thanks :)

I looked into this last year, it started off with me just wanting a text message if the power failed over winter, but the more I looked the more I found. I ended up with a camera (with motion sensor day & night) as you described (txt & mms), wireless door sensors, smoke sensor including my original requirement for text alerts when the power fails. There are names for the same system Minder and Alertpal, Alertpal was covered by the gadget show. You will find many websites with a sale price of £300, BUT I ended paying £140 (from QVC - sold out at the moment).

I have not experience any problems and works well, love the fact I can take pictures by text message just to check on the boat, I was surprised how often I had power outages (this turned out to be a fault in the marina).

Of course there maybe cheaper options like others have already said, but I can recommend Minder or AlertPal systems.

I've recently purchased a GSM alarm and am in the process of fitting it. Less than £50.

Ebay is your friend:-

Wireless PIR camera available extra for around £70, makes the overall total £120, less than QVC:-

Isn't ebay great!

Edit: Forgot to add, the instruction leaflet that came with the wireless smoke detector is the funniest "Chenglish" I've ever seen.
Worth buying just for that!

Do you know.. what are these 4-6 different sensors?

An alarm can be triggered when:
- the phone is moved (only in the pro version)
- something approaches or leaves the proximity sensor
- the phone is unplugged from charger
- someone unlocks the phone
- a noise is too loud
- the camera detects motion (only in the pro version

Ahh, as in alarm triggers, not external sensor devices.

Thanks Scubadoo & Trundlebug, these were the ones I was looking at, just wanted to know if they work or if there was anything better out there. Had an issue recently with the passarelle left out & hit the quay! Annoying as we are ultra careful about this, have seen boats with severe damage to the transom where it's connected & expensive to repair.
