That'd be quite a good spot compared to the ACL. Nearer the sea and nearer the city. Maybe some cruise liners to deal with ...

I was there two day's ago,
this is the new marina they are building opposite the old main gruz marina,
supposed to be ready next year,
the location is indeed much better than the old ACI marina on the river, 6nm inland
but indeed the spot suffers from a lot of cruise ships and ferry's coming in and out the bay.
there is also a new marina in Slano, opened in august,
they sell it as a new "Dubrovnik" marina,
but its about 20nm or > 1 hour taxi ride to old town in high season.

We spent a night in Slano in August, think it had opened only a day or two before. It was very clean, spacious, well laid out, easy to enter and leave, but facilities seem way undersized for the count of berths there - only two showers for example. Some things unfinished.

we might have crossed ?
we booked there a berth on 6/8, for hiding for the strong Bura prediction,
but when we arrived late afternoon, the wind had started to blow that strong so that it was impossible to go in to the marina safely.
quite a few boats were waiting in the Slano bay for the wind to slow down.
eventually (at 20h) we found a berth in Cavtat, but had to leave that one aswell during the night, as our anker came loose due to the strong waves,
so we sailed during the night, through the strong wind, back to Tivat Porto Montenegro.

Ah that's funny. The actual date we stayed was I think Monday 8th August. Was plenty of space there and the Bura from the previous night was gone.

yes we knew there was a strong Bura coming for at least 2 nights, thats why we left that area.
we have sailed in this region many times,
three of our favourite anchorages are very close:
- Sipanska Luka at anker, there is also the famous "Marko" restaurant.
- Bay North-east side of Island Jakljan (on anker with rope to shore)
and last but not least, in front of Konoba Niko in Kobas
so I'm afraid in the future, we will hardly ever go in to Marina Slano

I believe that this is the new marina planned by the people who own Marina Frapa further up the coast north of Split. It is far better situated than the ACI marina in Dubrovnik which is a long way from the city and always struck me as a dark (in winter) and windy place. Certainly Dubrovnik badly needs another marina because the ACI marina is often full and I very much disliked their practice of charging a higher berthing fee if you reserved a berth in advance compared to the fee you would be charged if you just rolled up on the day. The ACI marina badly needs some competition so it is forced to up its game
As for Dubrovnik itself, it is definitely one of my favourite places in the Med and a full service marina close to the city will undoubtedly be succesful

Agree on all those things, my first visit to Croatia this year and I'm sure we'll go back. The first night at Dubrovnik ACL Marina was incredibly windy, noisy, pretty unpleasant really.... 
but the city was superb. Also really liked Korcula despite the tourists. Now that's a small marina.

agree, but many of my guests like Kotor more than Dubrovnik,
especially the high mountains surrounding the fjord are breathtaking

re ACI Marina's; can now be booked online, so no cheeting anymore
actually never tried ACI Dubrovnik, only Korcula, just ones
in Dubrovnik I stay in old harbour Gruz,(via agent) or on anker near Lokrum

Is Niko still there? With the amount of alcohol he puts away I'd be surprised
last sunday / monday he was still alive and kicking, starting each day with a fresh beer.
but nowaday's he looks close to 100yo
his brother nevertheless prepared again some excellent and very big dorade
and different kinds of seafood as a starter
all still very delicious
