Got down to boat at Wilson's yard Hayling Island and discovered boat had been broken into. Thats really dreadful happend to me sometime ago took all the presents id bought the boat over the years clock radio even my then sailor HF radio and direction finder

I'm sorry but I don't think that the death penalty is appropriate for what were no doubt socially deprived youngsters who meant no harm and perhaps did not even really understand that what they did was wrong.

A more appropriate punishment would be one that was educative, that made them realise the pain that they cause to society. A pioneer in penal reform in France called Enguerrand de Coucy used to have just such an educative punishment system which involved, when he caught someone poaching on his land, hanging them from a tree by their testicles and leaving them.

So far as I am aware, there were no records of any repeat offendors.

Edit: just a thought: maybe that's how "penal reform" got it's name???
