It's typical. I've been cruising out of Portishead since April on my Red Fox. I took her out of the water at the end of October and have subsequently found this forum. Still, at least I'll know about it for next season!

Yeah, plenty of sailing still left before winter sets in.
Welcome to the Bristol Channel forum Rob. If you fancy coming out for a sail just drop me a line.

Next season ???? do you hibernate then ?

Hibernation is one word for it :-) Haven't quite got round to 'enjoying' sailing in sub zero temperatures.

I think you locked out with us on your maiden voyage from Portishead! Welcome aboard!

I'm pretty sure I did! I also think it's fair to say that I've learned a lot since my maiden sail to the new Severn bridge and back!

I'll PM you my mobile - would be good to get out again before April - and it's good going out with people more familiar with the stretch of water than I am.

Another "hello" from another Portishead resident who doesn't intend to let freezing his nuts off stop him sailing. I'll be doing the winter races (something to force me out when all common sense says I should be staying at home) and having the occasional potter around if the weather looks relatively nice. PM me if you fancy a trip out sometime. Are you a member of PCC? If it's too cold to go sailing, it's always good to prop up a bar and talk about it?

If you get to Cardiff, come and say hello at Cardiff yacht club. There are a few of us who post here, and we have our own club forum, too!

and Welcome!

Hmm, Swansea is on the list of next year's destinations.
I feel embarrassed that I didn't get to Chepstow this year. Sailed past it several times on my way up to Sharpness. Should make a nice lunch stop next year.

Chepstow is a great stop, we go there fairly often. You may have to avoid high water to get under the bridge though. I can recommend the game sausages :-)

Just make sure you don't have too many who want the sausages as they have been known to run out but that indicates how gorgeous they are. Of course we do the trip to give the boats a run, having great beer and food is a huge bonus ;-)
There are folk from Cardiff and portishead who do the trip so that should tell you something. It was worth joining the forum just for the excellent snippets of advice and popular places to visit.
